Cobalt or ternary: what is the difference?

It all comes down to the cathode. A Cobalt cell (lithium cobalt oxide) delivers a stable voltage and a high energy density in the thin form factor of a Mac: it is the closest match to factory behaviour, for a Mac you use every day or intend to keep for years. A ternary cell (NMC, nickel-manganese-cobalt) costs less and remains an excellent choice for occasional use: see our standard batteries. Frequently asked questions

Does a Cobalt battery last longer?
It reproduces the behaviour of the original battery (voltage, capacity retention over time): it is the range we recommend for a Mac used daily.

Is the capacity different from the standard range?
No: for a given model, both ranges have the same rated capacity (mAh). The difference lies in the cell chemistry and its durability.

What is the warranty?
