Terms and Conditions of Sale
Last updated: 18 June 2026
These Terms and Conditions of Sale (the "Terms") govern all sales of products and services concluded by Place du Mac, whether remotely via the placedumac.com website and the marketplaces on which it operates, or in store. Any order implies the customer's full acceptance of these Terms, which the customer acknowledges having read before confirming the purchase. The applicable Terms are those in force on the date of the order.

Article 2 — Products, services and prices
Place du Mac sells spare parts and accessories for Apple products (screens, LCD panels, batteries, keyboards, etc.) in new, refurbished-as-new or refurbished condition (grades A, B or C as defined in Article 12), as well as repair services carried out in its workshop at 51 rue du Faubourg Poissonnière, 75009 Paris.
The essential characteristics of each product appear on its product page. Prices are shown in euros, with the display specifying whether they are inclusive of tax (TTC) or exclusive of tax (HT). The applicable prices are those displayed at the time the order is confirmed. Place du Mac reserves the right to change its prices and its range at any time, without affecting orders already confirmed.
For repair services, labour is charged at €90 excl. tax per hour. Unless the customer instructs otherwise in writing, Place du Mac uses new or refurbished-as-new parts depending on available stock. System installations or reinstallations cover only the installation of the operating system, excluding third-party software, account or peripheral configuration; these additional operations are possible if the customer provides the relevant installers and activation keys.
Article 3 — Orders
The customer selects the products, validates the basket, checks the order details and then confirms it after accepting these Terms. The sale is definitively formed upon confirmation of the order and receipt of payment. Place du Mac sends an acknowledgement by e-mail. Place du Mac reserves the right to refuse or cancel any order that is abnormal, made in bad faith, or placed by a customer with whom a payment dispute is ongoing; the customer is then informed and refunded where applicable.
Article 4 — Payment
Place du Mac offers several means of payment: bank card, bank transfer (details shown on the invoice), cash in store up to €1,000 (art. D.112-3 of the Monetary and Financial Code), and cheque (on presentation of ID matching the account holder). Payment is due in full at the time of order.
Place du Mac may, at its sole discretion, offer payment in instalments by cheque or payment link, and reserves the right to refuse this facility. In accordance with article L.312-5 of the Consumer Code: "A loan commits you and must be repaid. Check your ability to repay before committing."
Between businesses, in accordance with articles L.441-10 and L.441-11 of the Commercial Code, any late payment automatically gives rise to penalties at an annual rate of 20%, together with a fixed recovery-costs indemnity of €40, without prejudice to any additional compensation upon supporting evidence.
Article 5 — VAT
Services and new or refurbished-as-new products are subject to VAT at the standard rate of 20% (art. 278 of the General Tax Code). Second-hand products may fall under the margin VAT scheme (art. 297 A of the General Tax Code), in which case VAT is not recoverable by the buyer. Intra-Community supplies to a taxable person holding a valid VAT number are exempt (art. 262 ter I of the General Tax Code).
Article 6 — Delivery
Products are shipped to the address provided by the customer, via the carrier selected when validating the basket. Orders are prepared and handed to the carrier within a maximum of 48 business hours after payment is validated. A tracking number is provided to the customer and available on placedumac.com as well as by e-mail (or via the relevant marketplace messaging).
Delivery times are indicative. Delays attributable to the carrier after the parcel has been handed over do not engage the liability of Place du Mac. In accordance with articles L.216-1 et seq. of the Consumer Code, the risk of loss or damage to the goods passes to the consumer upon physical receipt of the parcel. On receipt, the customer is invited to check the condition of the parcel and report any damage to the carrier and to Place du Mac as soon as possible.
Article 7 — Right of withdrawal (consumer customers)
In accordance with articles L.221-18 et seq. of the Consumer Code, the consumer has a period of 14 days from receipt of the product to exercise the right of withdrawal, without having to give reasons. To do so, the customer informs Place du Mac of the decision by an unambiguous statement, by e-mail to contact@placedumac.com, before the deadline expires.
The customer returns the product without undue delay and no later than 14 days after communicating the decision. The direct costs of return are borne by the customer. Place du Mac refunds all sums paid, including the standard outbound delivery costs, no later than 14 days after recovering the goods or receiving proof of dispatch. In accordance with article L.221-24, the refund of delivery costs is limited to the standard rate; the surcharge for an express delivery method chosen by the customer is not refunded.
The customer may handle and try the product as they would in a shop. In accordance with article L.221-23, the customer is only liable for any depreciation resulting from handling beyond what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and proper functioning of the goods. In that case, Place du Mac may apply to the refund a reduction proportionate to the loss of value observed.
In accordance with article L.221-28, the right of withdrawal does not apply, in particular, to goods made to the customer's specifications or clearly personalised, nor to sealed goods that cannot be returned for reasons of hygiene or health protection and that were unsealed after delivery.
Article 8 — Legal guarantees
Independently of any commercial warranty, Place du Mac remains bound by the following legal guarantees, which apply to all consumers and cannot be excluded or restricted:
- the legal guarantee of conformity (art. L.217-3 et seq. of the Consumer Code), lasting 2 years from delivery of the goods;
- the guarantee against hidden defects (art. 1641 et seq. of the Civil Code), which may be invoked within 2 years of discovery of the defect.
The legal guarantee of conformity applies where the goods do not match the description, do not function as expected of similar goods, or are defective. It entitles the consumer, free of charge, to repair or replacement of the goods within 30 days, and where applicable to a price reduction or cancellation of the sale under the legal conditions. The guarantee against hidden defects entitles the consumer to a price reduction if the goods are kept, or to a full refund upon return. The full text of the applicable legal provisions is reproduced in the box below.
Article 9 — Commercial warranty
In addition to the legal guarantees, Place du Mac provides its customers with a commercial warranty covering the parts and devices sold for 2 years from the date of purchase, and repair services (such as a motherboard repair) for 6 months. This commercial warranty does not replace the legal guarantees and does not limit their exercise.
The commercial warranty does not cover malfunctions resulting from:
- assembly or installation of the part by the customer or an unauthorised third party;
- oxidation, breakage or rupture of the product;
- abnormal use, negligence, lack of maintenance, an accident (drop, liquid) or an external cause occurring after delivery.
These exclusions are specific to the commercial warranty and have no effect on the legal guarantees referred to in Article 8, which the customer retains in all circumstances.
Details on the legal guarantees
"The consumer has a period of two years from delivery of the goods to obtain the implementation of the legal guarantee of conformity in the event of a lack of conformity becoming apparent. During this period, the consumer is only required to establish the existence of the lack of conformity and not the date on which it appeared.
The legal guarantee of conformity entails, where appropriate, an obligation for the trader to provide all updates necessary to maintain the conformity of the goods.
The legal guarantee of conformity gives the consumer the right to repair or replacement of the goods within thirty days of the request, free of charge and without major inconvenience. If the goods are repaired under the legal guarantee of conformity, the consumer benefits from a six-month extension of the initial guarantee. If the consumer requests repair of the goods but the seller imposes replacement, the legal guarantee of conformity is renewed for a period of two years from the date of replacement of the goods.
The consumer may obtain a reduction in the purchase price by keeping the goods, or terminate the contract and obtain a full refund upon return of the goods, if: 1° the trader refuses to repair or replace the goods; 2° repair or replacement of the goods takes place after a period of thirty days; 3° repair or replacement of the goods causes major inconvenience to the consumer, in particular where the consumer permanently bears the costs of taking back or removing the non-conforming goods, or bears the costs of installing the repaired or replacement goods; 4° the non-conformity of the goods persists despite the seller's unsuccessful attempt to bring them into conformity.
The consumer is also entitled to a price reduction or cancellation of the contract where the lack of conformity is so serious that it justifies an immediate price reduction or cancellation of the contract. The consumer is not entitled to cancellation of the sale if the lack of conformity is minor. Any period during which the goods are unavailable for repair or replacement suspends the remaining guarantee period until the repaired goods are delivered. The rights mentioned above arise from the application of articles L.217-1 to L.217-32 of the Consumer Code.
A seller who in bad faith obstructs the implementation of the legal guarantee of conformity is liable to a civil fine of up to €300,000, which may be increased to 10% of average annual turnover (article L.241-5 of the Consumer Code).
The consumer also benefits from the legal guarantee against hidden defects under articles 1641 to 1649 of the Civil Code, for a period of two years from discovery of the defect. This guarantee entitles the consumer to a price reduction if the goods are kept, or to a full refund upon return of the goods."
Article 10 — Returns, After-Sales Service and Coverage Conditions
Preliminary Formalities. Any return, whether it concerns after-sales service (warranty) or withdrawal, must be preceded by an email to contact@placedumac.com indicating: the reason for the return, a photo of the product, the invoice reference, the customer's name and, once shipped, the tracking number. The package must contain the purchase invoice. In the absence of these elements, the processing of the return may be delayed.
Packaging. The product must be carefully packaged. Screens and panels must be protected by a double-corrugated cardboard with bubble wrap. Place du Mac declines any responsibility for damages occurring during the return transport due to insufficient packaging.
Return Costs. A prepaid return label is provided when the defect is clearly attributable to the product and identifiable remotely. In other cases, the customer advances the return costs (tracked shipment); if warranty coverage is confirmed after inspection, these costs are reimbursed upon presentation of proof.
Processing Time. No replacement or refund occurs before receipt and complete inspection of the returned product. Processing and testing generally take 24 to 96 business hours from the receipt of the package.
Anti-fraud Measure (traceability sticker). Some products have a sticker or seal for traceability intended to prevent fraudulent substitutions. This measure does not affect the legal guarantees of Article 8, which remain available to the consumer even if the seal had to be removed. However, in the context of a return for withdrawal, the absence or alteration of the seal is considered in the evaluation of the product's condition and its potential depreciation.
Evaluation of the Condition of Returned Products (screens and panels). The condition of the returned product is assessed by Place du Mac upon receipt, according to the levels defined in Article 12:
- product in perfect original condition (protective films intact, no signs of handling): full refund;
- product reclassifiable as Grade A / Very good condition (light traces): 5% discount excluding VAT;
- product reclassifiable as Grade B / Good condition (visible traces): 10% discount excluding VAT;
- damaged product, damaged flex or rendered unsellable: the refund may be refused and the product returned to the customer at their expense.
Any discount applied corresponds to the actual loss of value of the product and is proportionate.
Specific Policy for MacBook LCD Panels (all customers). Due to their fragility, LCD panels are subject to specific conditions that the customer is invited to read before any purchase:
- Each panel must be tested before any installation, with protective films kept intact; any installation, gluing, or disassembly constitutes refusal of the product.
- To be returned, the panel must be returned in its original packaging, sealed and intact, without scratches, damaged flex, or removed film.
- Broken, unpacked-installed, or modified panels cannot be returned; returns must be pre-approved by customer service.
- The customer is responsible for verifying the product upon receipt; no claim is accepted for damage caused during installation or disassembly.
These conditions apply in compliance with legal guarantees: a proven lack of conformity or hidden defect remains covered even after installation.
Provisions Specific to Professional Clients. Professional clients do not benefit from the legal right of withdrawal. As a commercial gesture, Place du Mac nevertheless accepts returns within 14 days, the product must be returned new and unused in its original condition, subject to the following conditions: a flat fee of €20 excluding VAT in case of express delivery offered, handling fees of €12 excluding VAT, return costs borne by the professional, and issuance of a commercial credit (and not a refund) valid on a subsequent order. For warranty returns, Place du Mac offers, at its discretion, replacement, refund, or credit, depending on the nature of the defect.
Return Address: PLACE DU MAC — Local B1, 461 rue Saint-Léonard, 49000 Angers. All returns must include a tracking number communicated to contact@placedumac.com.
Article 11 — Workshop Services: Diagnosis, Quotation, Deadlines, and Data
Diagnosis and Quotation. The standard diagnosis is free; its duration varies from 24 to 96 business hours depending on the workload. An express diagnosis, charged at €59.90 including VAT, allows obtaining the result within the day or within 48 business hours (drop-off before 3 p.m.); only the diagnosis is expedited, the repair retains its usual timeframe. The quotation is prepared by a technician at the end of the diagnosis and remains valid for 30 days. It covers the detected faults; any additional fault discovered is subject to a counter-quotation submitted for the client's approval. A refused quotation is not charged.
Deadlines and Storage. Repair times are indicative and may be extended by the complexity of the intervention or a restocking of parts. The client can retrieve their device before intervention by notifying 24 business hours in advance. Devices are stored for one year from the date the client was informed (quotation, repair completed, or device irreparable); after this period and without the client's return, Place du Mac is no longer responsible for their storage and the device may be destroyed or recycled.
Client Data. The client is solely responsible for backing up their data before any drop-off or intervention. Place du Mac cannot be held responsible for data loss. A session password may be requested solely for functional testing purposes; Place du Mac commits to using only diagnostic tools and not accessing the client's personal content.
Article 12 — Grades and Conditions of Products
The spare parts and devices offered by Place du Mac are classified according to four levels. The term "grade" is used for spare parts (screens, panels, batteries, keyboards, etc.) and the term "condition" for complete devices; both correspond to the same quality level:
- Refurbished as new / Like new — parts assembled from original components and refurbished according to manufacturer standards, condition equivalent to new. For a device: case and bottom case may have barely visible micro-scratches (invisible at 20 cm); screen, keyboard, and trackpad in perfect condition.
- Grade A / Very good condition — closest to new, almost imperceptible micro-traces with no impact on use; for screens, no display defect or dead pixel. For a device: case and bottom case with micro-scratches visible at 20 cm; perfect screen; keyboard and trackpad with imperceptible micro-scratches to the touch.
- Grade B / Good condition — visible wear traces (light scratches or marks on the chassis) without structural shock, fully functional part; for screens, no display defect. For a device: case and bottom case may have scratches; screen with fine scratches invisible when turned on; keyboard and trackpad with small visible scratches.
- Grade C / Fair condition — pronounced wear traces (scratches, possible shocks or impacts), 100% functional part; for screens, slight superficial scratches possible. For a device: case, bottom case, keyboard, and trackpad may have scratches, snags, or visible impacts; screen with fine scratches invisible when turned on.
Article 13 — Personal Data
The data collected as part of an order is necessary for its processing and is processed in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and the French Data Protection Act. The client has the right to access, rectify, erase, oppose, and port their data, which they can exercise at contact@placedumac.com. The full terms are detailed in the site's Privacy Policy.
Article 14 — Mediation and Dispute Resolution
In case of a dispute, the client first sends a written complaint to Place du Mac (contact@placedumac.com). If no amicable solution is found within one month, and in accordance with articles L.612-1 and R.616-1 of the Consumer Code, the consumer can freely resort to the consumer mediator to which Place du Mac belongs: CM2C — Centre de la Médiation de la Consommation de Conciliateurs de Justice, 49 rue de Ponthieu, 75008 Paris — https://www.cm2c.net. The consumer can also use the European online dispute resolution platform: https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
Article 15 — Applicable Law
These Terms and Conditions are subject to French law. Place du Mac reserves the right to modify them at any time, with the applicable conditions being those in effect on the date of the order. If any clause of these terms is deemed null or unenforceable, the other clauses will retain their full effect.
