Two 32-inch 6K Retina panels built for creatives on Mac. One is a benchmark that’s now impossible to find, the other recreates it for a third of the price. We pitted them against each other across five rounds.
The Pro Display XDR keeps the crown for extreme HDR. But at 5 499 € without the stand, and now pulled from Apple’s catalog, it’s no longer in the running for most people. The Kuycon G32P delivers the same 32″ 6K Retina panel, richer connectivity and an included stand starting at 1 978 €. Our pick for nine creatives out of ten.

Both displays aim for the Retina density macOS was designed for, where pixels disappear. The G32P even pushes one notch further : 6144 × 3456 at 223 PPI versus 6016 × 3384 at 218 PPI for the Apple. DCI-P3 coverage in 10-bit on both sides. On a spreadsheet or a timeline, you can’t make out a single pixel on either one — with a slight surplus of usable area for the Kuycon.
Both panels cap at 500 nits in SDR : in everyday use, the same light. It all comes down to HDR, the Pro Display XDR’s playground : its 576-zone array backlight climbs to 1000 nits sustained, 1600 nits peak, where the G32P sticks to standard HDR. For grading HDR films in a studio, the Apple keeps a class lead — though the G32P answers with better native contrast (2000:1 versus 1200:1).
The G32P is far more open : two HDMI 2.1 (console, PC, camera), USB-C DisplayPort 2.1 and 100 W charging that powers a MacBook Pro over a single cable. The Pro Display XDR is limited to one Thunderbolt 3 (96 W) and three USB-C ports running USB 2. For a multi-source workstation, the Apple quickly shows its limits.
At Apple, the stand is a separate line on the invoice : 1 099 € for the Pro Stand, or a VESA adapter as an option. The G32P arrives with an included ergonomic stand (height, tilt) and a perforated back for heat dissipation. Straight out of the box, one is ready to work, the other is still waiting on a four-figure accessory.
The decisive blow. The Pro Display XDR starts at 5 499 €, or 6 598 € with the Pro Stand, and Apple pulled it from sale in March 2026 : you can only find it used now. The G32P delivers the same 6K Retina experience, stand included, starting at 1 978 € — new, warrantied and available. At a comparable configuration, the gap tops 4 600 €.
Unless you have a specific need for reference-grade HDR for cinema grading — where the Pro Display XDR remains unbeatable — the Kuycon G32P is today the best 32″ 6K display for creatives on Mac. More pixels, more ports, an included stand, in stock : it wins four rounds out of five, and above all the one on price. Now that Apple has turned the page on the XDR, it’s the most obvious new alternative.
Since March 2026, Apple has retired the Pro Display XDR and reorganized its range around two 27-inch 5K displays : the Studio Display and the new Studio Display XDR. Neither offers a 32-inch panel or 6K resolution — which is exactly where the Kuycon G32P keeps an edge.

At the same budget as the entry-level Studio Display, the G32P offers a bigger screen (32″ versus 27″) and a higher resolution (6K versus 5K). Against the Studio Display XDR at 3 099 €, it stays clearly more affordable while offering more area and more pixels — with the Apple regaining the advantage only on HDR peak brightness. For a 32-inch 6K display on Mac, the G32P has no new equivalent in Apple’s catalog today.
