How to recognize a MacBook Neo
Turn the Mac over: the model number A3404 is engraved near the hinges. The MacBook Neo has a 13-inch screen and an A18 Pro chip, from the iPhone chip family, not an M chip. Color matters
The screen, keyboard, trackpad, bottom case, Touch ID board and USB-C boards come in all four MacBook Neo colors. Order the part in the color of your Mac: you can see it on the lid and underneath the Mac.
The keyboard: ANSI, with or without Touch ID
Our keyboards for MacBook Neo use the ANSI layout, the one found on US keyboards (QWERTY, single-row Return key). Check the layout of your current keyboard before ordering. The keyboard also comes with or without Touch ID: get the same version as your Mac, which has a fingerprint sensor on the power key or not.
The battery
The MacBook Neo battery has a capacity of 9 573 mAh, using ternary lithium cells. It's time to replace it when battery life drops sharply, when System Settings > Battery shows “Service Recommended”, or when the Mac shuts down without warning. A swollen battery pushes up the trackpad or the bottom case: stop using the Mac if that happens.
The screen
On the MacBook Neo, the screen is replaced as a complete assembly: panel, glass and lid. Our screens for this model are refurbished original parts, in all four colors. The price and replacement steps are detailed on our MacBook Neo screen page.
Before opening your Mac
- Make a backup, with Time Machine for example.
- Turn off the Mac and unplug the charger before opening the bottom case.
- After replacing the keyboard with Touch ID or the Touch ID board, register your fingerprints again in System Settings > Touch ID & Password.
