Existen muchos tipos de placas base desde el MacBook Pro hasta el MacBook Air, pasando por los iMac y también los Mac Pro.

Muchos clientes nos preguntan si su Mac puede ser reparable o no y si pueden recuperar sus datos; generalmente han pasado por otros reparadores que han recomendado el reemplazo de la placa base o incluso del Mac completo. En este tipo de situaciones, desde el año 2016, Apple ha cambiado el diseño de sus ordenadores: el SSD o disco duro ahora está integrado en la placa base y desde 2018, con la llegada del chip T2 de Apple, los datos están ahora cifrados. La única solución para recuperarlos es, por lo tanto, reparar la placa base.

Cuando la placa base debe ser cambiada, los clientes pierden la totalidad de sus datos, que son muy importantes para ellos, documentos profesionales o fotos familiares. Por lo tanto, recomendamos reparar la placa base para intentar recuperar esos datos y, como el diagnóstico es gratuito, no corren riesgos.

Apple no tiene ni las competencias técnicas ni el personal para reparar las placas base; parece una locura, pero los ordenadores Apple son fabricados en China por empresas independientes como Foxconn y Pegatron, ellos son quienes tienen el conocimiento.

Los productos reacondicionados por Apple a menudo provienen de la reparación de estas placas base cubiertas por la garantía de Apple y reparadas en China por estas empresas, pero Apple no realiza reparaciones para estos clientes y, en el caso de una reparación, borra sistemáticamente todos los datos, lo que provoca un gran descontento entre los clientes. Ofrecen, paralelamente, la opción de contratar una cuenta de iCloud mensual, que se vuelve muy cara cuando se posee una gran cantidad de datos.

En los Mac de 2016 y 2017, Apple había integrado un puerto de conexión que permitía, en ciertos casos donde la placa base falla y con un gabinete específico, recuperar los datos, pero lo retiraron a partir de 2018 justificando que los nuevos Mac con chip T2 no podían tener técnicamente esta funcionalidad, seguramente con el objetivo de vender más suscripciones a iCloud, lo que es una fuente de ingresos inagotable para Apple.

Todo depende del modelo de la placa base

En los ordenadores Apple de 2008 a 2015, la tasa de éxito es muy alta, generalmente entre el 90 y el 100%

En los ordenadores después de 2016, se complica, ya que Apple ha implementado procesos que impiden las reparaciones,

Por ejemplo:

Si el chip T2 ha sido dañado, es imposible reparar la placa base y los datos se pierden.

Si el SSD ha sido dañado, una nand defectuosa o el controlador de las nands, también es imposible repararlo, de hecho, Apple ha añadido una partición en el SSD llamada iBoot, esta partición está en relación directa con el T2 y si la comunicación no se establece, el Mac no puede ser restaurado.
